Jan. 25, 1798 (according to Norfolk Record "Jan. 18") in Goshen, Ct. She d. April 19, 1824, at Norfolk, Ct., aged 26, and was buried in Grant, Ct. He mar. (2) Salome Collar of New Marlborough, Mass., April 5, 1825. She was b. Aug. 5, 1799; d. Dec. 5, 1885, at Oberlin, Ohio, and with her husband is buried in Oberlin Cemetery. He d. in Oberlin, Dec. 31, 1884 (Ref. Baldwin Genealogy").
Her Baldwin ancestry is Brewin Baldwin (5), Sam.(4), Nathaniel (3), Sam.(2), b. Jan. 17, 1752, mar. Aug. 13, 1772, Hannah, dau. of Ebenezer Foot of Cornwall; d. Sept. 6, 1833. She d. June 10, 1823. children were: Marian, Timothy, Asabel, Nancy, Jonathan, Sylvester, Birdsey, Betsy, Ami, Martha, Jonathan F., Laura M.

A Goshen, Conn. record reads: "James M. Cowles when a young man bought of Jesse Maltbie the farm on the Goshen road where he spent his life and died there Dec. 1871 at the age of 64." Charles Ben- jamin Maltbie writes: "He probably bought this land about 1835."
